Wishlist

My wishlist just keeps growing and growing because of photography and there are lots of gear that I would love to own, so I can improve my photography experience and knowledge. But the only problem is the financials, I just can’t afford them all. So, one step at a time.

As one of the examples is this Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D lens. The “Zero-D” stands for Zero Distortion, and it means that the image field won’t be distorted (see image below).

This lens hold an angle of 122º, which is more than on my current Nikkor AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lens that has an angle of 114º-84º. Yet the Nikkor has AF while the Laowa is fully MF, but that’s ok since the field I want to use it for doesn’t require AF at all, just to get it properly set up on infinity focus and it’s a Go!

Another product is the Sony A7S Mark III, which still hasn’t been announced since it’s under development and it’s going to be the best MILC (mirrorless camera) on the market once it’s out.
I’m not so fancy about the amount of Megapixels in a camera, all I want is that it can video record what I want during night time. So far, my Nikon Z6 is a disappointment when it comes to low-light recording, but hopefully the new A7S III will provide some boost the day it appears.
The A7S and A7S II has so far given a lot to videographers and timelapse photographers, with its capability to extend the ISO up to 409600. This is enough to record the Auroras with freehand stage and no need to only do timelapse shooting.

Another “must-have” is a drone, yet here I can’t decide which is best suited for me and before I have decided that part there’s probably 2-3 new models out there. DJI Mavic 2 Zoom is nice when you’re out hiking on mountains and you want to give the video some cinematic feeling with the zoom where the background gets closer to you while you keep hiking.
The other one is the DJI Mavic 2 Pro with its f/2.8 Hasselblad camera, and this one could assist you on making an aerial timelapse of your surroundings while the Auroras hit the sky.
But there’s a catch with these two models, they require a license to operate them. All the smaller models don’t need a license because they are lighter in weight.
