About me
About me
Miska Saarikko
Born January 1981 in Stockholm, Sweden, but having Finnish heritage. Went to aestethics in college where I studied photography, art, illustration and much more.
Done photography since the youth, with analog SLRs, moved over to digital SLRs and now working with mirrorless SLRs.
Day and night photography
I do mostly astrophotography, which basicly is astronomy and landscape photography in one, but of course by night time.
But I also photograph during daytime, explore new countries, landscapes, views and strive to collect as much knowledge as possible of certain places.
Most photographers do a lot of artwork of their pictures, I barely manipulate any of mine. This means that I don't do composites by taking one shot elsewhere and another somewhere else and put them together. I want it to be as original as possible because that's the real deal.
During the years my experience of editing has evolved a lot, which I'm greatful for since I strive to become better on what I love to do.
Astronomy
I have recently started to do astrophotography where I'm imaging the sun with my solar telescope mounted on my equatorial mount that tracks the Sun's position in the sky. On top of that I have a dedicated monochrome camera that I capture all the details with.
Doing solarphotography is time consuming because all the nice days go on imaging the star that keeps us warm and alive here on planet Earth.
Time-lapse
Some of my astrophotographs are also time-lapses, where I collect a minimum of 300 images to make a short video clip of the movement of the motif. A few of these can be found in the Aurora gallery.
